Vodafone have pulled the HTC Evo 3D from their ‘coming soon’ page. The HTC was having a few supply issues so they delayed the device and I guess now that Vodafone decided to pull the device out of the store. More »

From Ziggytek: An Android smartphone called the Ace is being made by HTC. Speculation is that the Ace is either a GSM European Droid Incredible (exclusive to Verizon) or a 3G model of the Sprint Evo 4G. More »

Android fragmentation was inevitable. This is the nature of open source projects that have lax guidelines and include manufacturers from so many different nations. Unlike stern Windows Phone 7, Android’s hardware specifications are much wider, and because of this, smartphones bearing Google’s logo have widely varying features and technical abilities; ergo, app fragmentation was always going to happen. Flash 10.1 will not run on any North American machine not named the Droid or Nexus One (though the Incredible and Evo 4G will join that prestigious class). HTC has been one of the fastest growing technology companies over the past three years, yet much of the public in the western world knows little about this Taiwanese firm. As 2010 moves along, HTC’s relative obscurity will be replaced by recognition and acclaim. Formerly just an original design manufacturer (ODM), which supplied handheld devices like PDAs and smartphones to big name clients, HTC officially launched its own branded smartphone in 2006 with the Blackberry-like Excalibur. In 2007, HTC released its preemptive counter to the iPhone, the Touch (Windows Mobile 6), which was generally criticized for its poor TouchFLO UI, mediocre screen, and lack of 3G. Years later, after significant maturity, together with Google and its Android operating system, HTC is preparing to compete against the established smartphone hierarchy in North America. More »
