Today, Google released a Google Voice app update to Android and Blackberry users. The update promises faster calls. Prior to the update, Google Voice users would call a Google Voice server that would connect the call via a Google access number. Now, with the update, each person you call is assigned their own unique phone number. Because when Google released the open source code of Android 2.2 FroYo a couple of days ago, Tim Bray remarked that with FroYo, developers can “build and boot a fully open-source system image out of the box, for the emulator, as well as for Dream (ADP1), Sapphire (ADP2).” What this means is that even an old dog (the eldest of all Androids) can officially be programmed to run Android 2.2.
