A leaked screenshot of the HTC Desire Z depicted on Mobile.co.uk shows the Android device with a sliding keyboard in landscape mode,which is said to be related to the Desire HD. The device will also feature a 3.7 touchscreen and a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. But strangely enough, the Desire Z will run on Android 2.1 software, rather than the 2.2 version Froyo. Adobe’s MWC appearance revealed something big: only smartphones with ARM Cortex-A8 or faster processors will run Flash 10.1 properly. Also, 50Mb of free RAM is required, but all current Android devices have this covered; unfortunately, in North America, only the Nexus One and Motorola Droid have the CPU requirements, so this means that the HTC Magic (myTouch), Dream (G1), Hero, Motorola CLIQ, and other top selling Android phones will not be supported. The programming geniuses over at OpenEclair have come a long way since the first version of its open source Eclair 2.1 ROM was released on January 28th. Now in build 1.2.2, OpenEclair is generally regarded as the best, fastest (and certainly the most promising) Android 2.1 ROM for the HTC Magic and Dream (myTouch 3G and G1 respectively).
