When Apple held its press conference to address the iPhone 4’s antenna issues (Antenna Gate), one of the phones singled out by Steve Jobs was the HTC Droid Eris, which can be seen as dropping significant amount of signal when “death-gripped.” HTC has responded. More »


HTC has confirmed that the Droid Incredible, Evo 4G, MyTouch Slide, and Desire are on the priority list to receive Android 2.2 updates, but none of them is getting the new OS until the second half of this year. Although HTC has not made a statement about 2009 models, the adverb that “most” 2010 units will get FroYo indicates to me that there is no chance for the likes of the G1, MyTouch 3G, and Droid Eris since not “all” 2010 smartphones will be upgraded. Although it is only in alpha stage right now, and the ROM is horribly buggy and slow, a ROM of Android 2.2 FroYo from XDA Developers is “working” on the Nexus One and Verizon’s Droid Eris. More »


On Thursday, Best Buy will be selling the Motorola Devour for $99.99 with a new 2-year Verizon contract. Meanwhile, the Droid Eris is now free and the Motorola Droid only $99.99, both with new 2-year contracts. At these prices, I would never choose the Devour over the Droid. More »
