In another move that could be (erroneously) construed as anti-Apple, Adobe, as part of its Flash 10.1 for Android development promotion, will be giving its employees free Android 2.1 smartphones –presumably either the Nexus One or Motorola Droid. I would not anticipate that the Droid Incredible is the giveaway phone since it is nearly sold out at vendors, and Google loves to hand out its Nexus One like it is a Tic-Tac. More »

Since Firefox is my browse of choice on Mac and Windows, I have been keeping apprised of Mozilla’s development of Fennec for Android. Truth be told, for online stuff, I rarely do more than use Gmail on my MyTouch, but maybe Firefox will change my habits? See how it runs on a Nexus One. More »

The Nexus One for Europe, as I tend to think of the HTC Desire, is landing on US Cellular in July, but it is being packed with an 8Gb microSD card instead of the 16Gb of some other markets. More »

…and it is sound advice because no one, in his/her right mind, on Verizon would choose the Nexus One over the Droid Incredible, unless the former is meaningfully cheaper. In some glad tidings, Verizon is throwing in a free 2Gb microSD card with the Droid Incredible. More »

Adobe’s MWC appearance revealed something big: only smartphones with ARM Cortex-A8 or faster processors will run Flash 10.1 properly. Also, 50Mb of free RAM is required, but all current Android devices have this covered; unfortunately, in North America, only the Nexus One and Motorola Droid have the CPU requirements, so this means that the HTC Magic (myTouch), Dream (G1), Hero, Motorola CLIQ, and other top selling Android phones will not be supported. Fresh rumors have AT&T landing the coveted HTC Desire, and Sprint getting the Legend, which would be rebadged as the Hero 2. More »

Soneira has conducted a scientific experiment in which he claims that Apple’s iPhone 3G-S LCD is better than the much touted AMOLED display on Google’s Nexus One. OLED is inherently a far superior technology than LCD, but execution is crucial. Just because one form of technology is more advanced, it does not mean that everything that uses it will exceed the performance of an inferior approach. For example, not every rear-wheel-drive car will out-handle every front-wheel-drive auto. More »
