A new rumor from a “trustworthy source” puts the Motorola Droid 2 for Verizon’s launch on August 23rd. Should the Droid 2 be released in late August, it will almost surely have Android 2.2 FroYo. The Droid X is landing on July 15th with Eclair. More »

BGR reports that some Verizon stores are closing by 4PM on Sunday, June 27th for an event that all employees must attend. No one knows what the meetings entail. The unprecedented closure for Verizon could be a company shake-up and/or the preparations for the launch(es) of the Motorola Droid 2 and/or Droid X. More »

Blog Android and Me is the first to be graced with a preview of Motorola’s Droid 2, which looks like its predecessor (except for the re-worked keypad) but internally is housing a beastly 1GHz TI OMAP3630 processor (Droid has 550MHz TI OMAP343) with integrated PowerVR SGX530 graphics and 512Mb RAM (over 256Mb in the Droid). Are you looking at the Motorola Droid part two? The unit’s welcome screen says “A955,” and the phone does look different from the Droid Xtreme. However, this one blurry photo is all that exists right now. We have no way of confirming if there is a QWERTY keypad like the current Droid/Milestone. More »
