Adobe’s MWC appearance revealed something big: only smartphones with ARM Cortex-A8 or faster processors will run Flash 10.1 properly. Also, 50Mb of free RAM is required, but all current Android devices have this covered; unfortunately, in North America, only the Nexus One and Motorola Droid have the CPU requirements, so this means that the HTC Magic (myTouch), Dream (G1), Hero, Motorola CLIQ, and other top selling Android phones will not be supported. Acer’s Liquid will be available in Canada before America (a minor victory for Canadians) courtesy of Rogers. The largest carrier in the land will have Acer’s Android 2.1 smartphone by this spring. More »


Kind of lost in all of the hubbub of Mobile World Congress busyness - and criminally so since this is a promising looking phone - is Acer’s second big Android smartphone, the E400, which uses Android Eclair 2.1 and is a mere 12mm thin. More »


Even though Acer’s Liquid is in many ways inferior to Google’s Nexus One, the former has been a hot commodity, while the latter has barely had a sales pulse because Acer’s phone is actually much cheaper when import taxes are imposed. In the States, the Nexus One is $529, but getting one in the UK costs around £440 after VAT and other fees. In contrast, the Liquid can be had for as little as £333.70 with VAT. More »


Acer’s Liquid has been a smash hit overseas. With Mobile World Congress (MWC) less than a week away (15th), Acer is gearing to announce a bunch of new smartphones. The E110 is an Android 2.0 unit that is rumored to be shown at MWC. More »


Yet another smashing overseas smartphone, the Acer Liquid was supposed to be the world’s first “Snapdragon” processor device, but its launch had been delayed until last week. The Liquid has quality specs and its black variant is now for sale in the UK, with most of western Europe, Russia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Indonesia also getting theirs sometime this year. I question just how well this phone will do since the technically more advanced Nexus One has made barely a ripple. More »
