That’s right! iPad and iPhone 4 will soon be able to run Android OS thanks to OpeniBoot, an open source implementation of iBoot for Apple devices. Currently it only works on iPhone 3G, 2G and 1st-gen iPod Touch, but now OpeniBoot developers are working on bringing the OS for other iDevices as well. Doesn’t it sound great? More »

In a cheeky and indirect shot at Apple’s iPhone 4 antenna woes, Samsung has taken out a newspaper advertisement whose text replaces the two “l” letters of the word “hello” with 4 bars, signifying that the Galaxy S‘ reception is trouble free. More »

When Apple held its press conference to address the iPhone 4’s antenna issues (Antenna Gate), one of the phones singled out by Steve Jobs was the HTC Droid Eris, which can be seen as dropping significant amount of signal when “death-gripped.” HTC has responded. More »

From Ziggytek: Nokia and RIM can deny problems with their phones all that they want, but Apple’s press conference claims on Friday actually have merit. The so called “death grip” of an antenna on a smartphone can lead to significant signal loss on almost every phone. Watch these videos for proof. More »

- Watch the latest Droid X commercial? If you’ve watched carefully, you would’ve been able to see a code that takes you to a secret Droid X page with a secret message.

- According to Steve Jobs, it isn’t just the iPhone 4 that has the antenna problem — Android phones have it too.

When Samsung announced that its flagship Android smartphone, the Galaxy S, was arriving to every major American carrier, few were surprised at the unprecedented move. Most Android smartphones up until then had been relegated to one or two carriers. The Galaxy S is a smashing winner in homeland South Korea, selling over 300,000 units so far. Most prognosticators expect the world’s most powerful Android to hit it big in America (and Canada) too, but which version will come out on top? The Verizon Fascinate will be king because it is on the largest network with the best reputation, right? Not necessarily. More »

From Ziggytek: Microsoft’s ambitious Vista operating system is viewed as a failure on many levels. Keven Turner, Microsoft COO, took an unfriendly jab at Apple’s iPhone 4 antenna problems, saying, “It looks like the iPhone 4 might be their Vista, and I’m okay with that.” Is Turner speaking too soon, especially when his company’s Windows Phone 7 faces serious challenges ahead of its launch? The HTC 1 concept was designed by Andrew Kim. What’s most eye-catching about this design is its sleekness appears to rival that of the iPhone 4. More »

From Ziggytek: Woz was enthralled with his Google Nexus One when he purchased it, and although he still loves Android’s useful voice recognition, he thinks that its open source foundation (ironically) makes it too similar to Windows, an operating system that tries to do everything but staggers at doing anything well. From Ziggytek: FaceTime is a great concept because it is free, but its being restricted to Wi-Fi (for now) also makes it limited. Fring is an application that allows 3G and Wi-Fi video calling between iPhone 4 owners. Best of all, though, is that Fring is cross-platform and enables callers using Android, Symbian, or iPhone 4 to chat together. More »
