Adobe’s MWC appearance revealed something big: only smartphones with ARM Cortex-A8 or faster processors will run Flash 10.1 properly. Also, 50Mb of free RAM is required, but all current Android devices have this covered; unfortunately, in North America, only the Nexus One and Motorola Droid have the CPU requirements, so this means that the HTC Magic (myTouch), Dream (G1), Hero, Motorola CLIQ, and other top selling Android phones will not be supported. From Ziggytek: DisplayMate president Dr. Raymond M. Soneira has conducted a scientific experiment in which he claims that Apple’s iPhone 3G-S LCD is better than the much touted AMOLED display on Google’s Nexus One. OLED is inherently a far superior technology than LCD, but execution is crucial. Just because one form of technology is more advanced, it does not mean that everything that uses it will exceed the performance of an inferior approach. Google has finally released Google Earth for Android 2.1 phones, of which there is only one at the moment. The 22Mb application runs very smoothly on the Nexus One and looks nearly as good as its computer counterpart. More »
