Barnes & Noble has recently held their press conference to introduce their new NOOK e-reader, the ‘Simple Touch Reader’. After some information was leaked they finally confirmed that it is a ’squat, black, touch-screen e-ink reader’ which will be priced at $139. More »

Consisting of 5 exceptional models, one of these will also be a tablet: the Pocketbook IQ — sporting a 7” TFT touchscreen display, with 3 different case colors and Android 2.0. Following Borders and their newly released e-Reader app and bookstore, Barnes and Noble has announced that it will soon release an e-Reader app of their own. This was apparent as a general email was sent to staff members announce it’s arrival. In addition, the image above stating that the B&N app will arrive soon was added to the Android market place. With access to Barnes & Nobles‘ e-book store, Pandigital’s Novel e-reader has a 7″ color screen (800×600), 1Gb memory (along with an SD-card slot), ARM11 CPU, and wireless for $200 in June. Although sexier for multimedia, color LCDs are hardly as appropriate as e-ink for reading. More »

Spring Design’s Alex eReader is a duo-screen Android media player and EPD e-reader on a slate, not a folder like the enTourage eDGe, but rather akin to the Barnes & Noble Nook. The Alex shipped a few weeks ago. Two reviewers praised it for relatively fast performance but denounced its $399 price and tiny selection of books. More »


A somewhat different take on the e-reader, Spring Design’s Alex is a handheld that operates Android with a 3.5” color LCD touchscreen (for browsing and graphics) and a 6” EPD screen for text. More »
