From Ziggytek: Notion Ink’s very promising Adam tablets have been pushed back to November. In February, when the company enthusiastically showed off the slate, the targeted release was June/July. Alas, because of Adobe Flash 10.1 issues and production/hardware supply problems (lots of tablets are being manufactured by other big firms), the Google Android based Adam is arriving late 2010. From Wirebot:

Are tired of all the bragging your iPhone-using friends do over all the amazing games they have available to them through the App Store? Today that bragging stops, well not really, I mean the App Store does have like 1 trillion Apps, but at least you can retort with, “ Yes, that is cool! I also have Hero of Sparta on my Android!” More »

From Ziggytek: One of my pet-peeves is the misuse of terms like “knock-off” and “fake” to describe something that is merely a lookalike. Zenithink’s iPadclone” is the latter, although it has widely been misrepresented as the former. Backed by premium features such as Android Eclair 2.1 (no outmoded Donut or Cupcake!) and 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, the Zenithink tablet might be good and could go for under $300. More »

BumpTop is software that morphs Windows and Mac OS X desktops into interactive 3D interfaces –it is almost like having a real desktop on your computer. Google has bought out the small group, and the likelihood is that Android and ChromeOS home-screens will soon be in 3D too. More »

Speaking with Bloomberg, HTC chief financial officer Cheng Hui-ming states that under the right conditions, his company could run its own operating system for its smartphones. Throughout HTC’s history, it has relied on Windows Mobile and Google Android. Were HTC to use a proprietary OS, there are many significant factors to consider. More »

In my estimation, some of Apple’s copyright infringement complaints against HTC can apply equally to other Android smartphone manufacturers like Motorola and Samsung, yet HTC was targeted because of the company’s strong US rise and dissociation with Apple. Samsung makes Apple’s “A4” and iPhone ARM processors and will be the primary LCD source for the iPad; obviously, Apple does not want to sue a valuable supplier. HTC has nothing to do with Apple and is enjoying greater growth in the States than any other smartphone maker. Is Apple threatened? Of course. More »

Apple’s damning copyright infringement lawsuit against HTC has had no effect on its daily operations. While Apple is no stranger to litigation, regularly defending itself from lawsuits, this is the first time that a major American corporation has lodged legal complaints at HTC. Nevertheless, the Taiwanese company has not slowed down; on the contrary, it is busy launching benchmark Android 2.1 smartphones in Europe (Desire, Legend) and prepping American releases (Evo 4G, Incredible). From Ziggytek: Today, Apple filed a massive copyright infringement lawsuit against rival smartphone manufacturer HTC and has requested that all HTC phones be pulled from sale in America. In its suit, Apple has cited almost every model that HTC makes. More »

ARCHOS is releasing an inexpensive Android tablet for the rest of us who are not disposed to spending half a grand or more for a tablet. The Home Tablet is a 7″ budget device that has a 600Mhz ARM9 CPU and even plays 720p. More »

Adobe’s MWC appearance revealed something big: only smartphones with ARM Cortex-A8 or faster processors will run Flash 10.1 properly. Also, 50Mb of free RAM is required, but all current Android devices have this covered; unfortunately, in North America, only the Nexus One and Motorola Droid have the CPU requirements, so this means that the HTC Magic (myTouch), Dream (G1), Hero, Motorola CLIQ, and other top selling Android phones will not be supported.
