Google’s official over-the-air Android 2.2 FroYo update for its only branded phone should be live within a few weeks, but for the impetuous and bored who own a Nexus One, you can install the new OS right now. More »

HTC has confirmed that the Droid Incredible, Evo 4G, MyTouch Slide, and Desire are on the priority list to receive Android 2.2 updates, but none of them is getting the new OS until the second half of this year. Although HTC has not made a statement about 2009 models, the adverb that “most” 2010 units will get FroYo indicates to me that there is no chance for the likes of the G1, MyTouch 3G, and Droid Eris since not “all” 2010 smartphones will be upgraded. One of the benefits (or blights, depending on your allegiances) of Google’s next smartphone OS is that Adobe Flash 10.1 is integrated. If this clip is genuine and is not simply a modified Android 2.1 or earlier ROM (I am not cognizant of an existing Android ROM that can run full Flash this well), then Ryan Stewart, the video’s uploader and self-professed Adobe “evangelist,” makes a cogent argument for Flash and Froyo.
