Verizon is expected to be carrying tablets in the near future, and its close relationship with Motorola leads to speculation that Motorola’s 10-inch tablet could be headed to the CDMA carrier as an opponent for AT&T’s iPad. Not long after Froyo’s been around, CNN reports that Android 3.0, otherwise known as Gingerbread will be available in the fall or winter of this year. I have my money on it releasing in the winter — unless eating gingerbread cookies in the fall is a tradition I’m unaware of. Google product manager, Gaurav Jain has said that music would be a major factor in the new version of Android and that its success is very important in Google. More »


Hindsight has a way of embarrassing analysts. Take Doug Anmuth (Barclay Capital) who predicted that Google would “move 5 to 6 MILLION Nexus One Handsets in 2010.” Despite the Nexus One’s inability to capture the consumers’ hearts, Google’s first smartphone is still one of the most important in Android history even though it is not an “iPhone killer.” More »
