American Eagle is currently running a promo where you receive a free Android phone whenever you try on a pair of jeans…regardless of if you’re actually in the store or not. Of course, there are catches. After trying on a pair of jeans, you’re instructed to pick from a list of phones (Including Droid 1!) and sign up for a mobile contract. Today, Google released a Google Voice app update to Android and Blackberry users. The update promises faster calls. Prior to the update, Google Voice users would call a Google Voice server that would connect the call via a Google access number. Now, with the update, each person you call is assigned their own unique phone number. The update leaves the data network to access the Google Voice server obsolete — you no longer need a ‘middle man’ … or in this case a server, to connect to a call. More »

Some will say that the Motorola Droid is boxy and ugly, but I find it understated and sort of handsome. The Droid is Motorola’s biggest star and is about to be followed up by the almost identical looking Droid 2. Over in China, a Droid clone has appeared that looks the part, but tragically, it runs Windows Mobile 6.5.
