An HTC regional director responsible for North Africa and the Middle East has recently told United Arab Emirates based newspaper Gulf News that Windows Phone 7 devices will be launched next month. Recently T-Mobile UK pulled back the Android 2.2 Froyo upgrade for HTC Desire. For a short time since last weekend they had sent out the update, but apparently the wrong one. The Samsung Galaxy S smartphone certainly has been tearing through their sales charts, they recently have sold over one million handsets! That’s quite a steep number. Verizon Wireless launched the Motorola Droid 2 not long ago, but apparently it will be replaced with another phone. With the new Droid 2 World Edition, users will still be able to use the phone while traveling abroad, as it supports international-friendly GSM + CDMA chipsets, while the original Droid 2 only supports CDMA. Other than that both phones have probably the same features in terms of specs, they run Android 2.2 and Adobe Flash 10.1 Froyo. More »

HTC has just announced their release for the Desire Z and Desire HD Android phones. For now, this news is more so aimed at Europe and Asia, where the phones will be available starting October. But the only peculiar thing about these two phones is that they seem to be very similar to the US versions of the Evo and the T-Mobile G2 Googlephone, just renamed into the Desire Z and HD. More »
