There hasn’t been that many devices who have received Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich yet but rumors about Android 5.0 Jelly Bean are already surfacing. The Jelly Bean name follows the sweet trend of the previous Android systems. Digitimes reckon that we could be seeing the new Android update as soon as quarter 2 of this year.
This earlier than would be expected launch is due to Android 4.0 being below the hopes of what Google wanted. The fact that Microsoft’s Windows 8 is also coming out also plays a factor in the launch of Android 5.0. Digitimes says, “Android 5.0 will be further optimized for tablet PCs, while Google will also integrate its Chrome system functions to push dual-operating system designs. Brand vendors can either choose to adopt only Android 5.0 or add Android 5.0 to Windows 8 devices with the ability to switch between the two OSes without the need to shut down the computer.”
Make sure that this news is read with a pinch of salt however, as Digitimes aren’t well known for being right about these types of rumors.
Not many devices have even got Android 4.0 yet, so do you think it’s a little early for Google to start saying goodbye?
