At the same time we have our heads in the smartphone pool of awesomeness, lots of newbies are still joining the fun every single day. And according to the newest study from NPD recently, lots of first-time smartphone buyers all pick Android.

iPhone remains top on the list, Samsung Galaxy S II and Galaxy S 4G snatching number 4 and 5 respectively, but Android has managed to secure a good trend that Android phone attract the most first-time buyers at 57%, leaving the rest to share the remaining.

Not surprisingly, the study also pointed out that Android and iOS together takes up 90% of the U.S. smartphone market, which leaves very little space for BlackBerry, Windows Phone, or other operating systems.

It’s definitely awesome to see Android grow even under the tough situation Apple puts it in. If you were or are a smartphone newbie, which would you choose?
