With almost everyone in sight holding their own smartphone, Android, iOS or Windows Phone, computers seem to be used less and less these days. And a recent study held by Canalys has just proven that theory to be 100% true.
In the study, all sorts of computers including desktops, laptops, and even tablets are all collected as data against smartphones. As a result, the study shows that 158.5 million smartphone were shipped last year, while computers stood at 120.2 million.
Comparing it through growth, the shipments for smartphones have increased by 56.6% from 2010, whereas computers only gone up to 16.3%.
That, in a way, means a big bang for Android.
Personally, I don’t own a smartphone, but I do own a computer. I do find the inconvenience for the non-portability, but honestly, I find my computer quite fine. Smartphones can wait.
