Microsoft has recently inked a patent agreement deal with LG, which now earns it a massive amount of money, much more than what Windows Phone 7 could get.
The deal makes LG pay Microsoft a small fee for every LG Android (and Chromebook) device sold, which brings Microsoft a total of 70% Android devices covered under their patent portfolio. AND, with Android sales blooming to nearly 50% of the US smartphone market, Microsoft will be getting much more money than we can imagine.
Nice move there, Microsoft. Now let me figure out LG’s benefit in there.
