Google’s Andy Rubin announced this week on Google+ that more than 700,000 Android devices are being activated daily, which is already pretty crazy to imagine.
To break it down a little, that’s 29,166 devices (more or less) activated every hour. Or 486 devices every minute. Though do notice that it says devices, so tablets, smartphones, pretty much anything that has an Android OS.
Though to clear it up a bit more, Rubin also explained what counts as an “activation,” saying:
We count each device only once (ie, we don’t count re-sold devices), and “activations” means you go into a store, buy a device, put it on the network by subscribing to a wireless service.
What’s also impressive is that it was announced to be 500,000 from this past June. Wow.
