You could probably guess why…but it’s pretty obvious that when ASUS was naming their Transformer Prime tablets, they most likely knew that the association to the popular toy would be made. So it’s no surprise that Hasbro, the original creator of the transforming toys, wasn’t too happy to hear this and is now suing the electronics manufacturer over the name. They are claiming that ASUS’ use of “Transformer” in their tablet line could be confused with the series protagonist, Optimus Prime.

I get that Hasbro just wants to make sure that they own it. But really? I’m sure no one will really be that confused to mix up a super-awesome robot/truck figure to a 10-inch tablet running Android 3.0/Honeycomb.

But anyway…Hasbro is giving ASUS 21 days to respond to their complaint. And if they don’t, Hasbro will be continuing on to pursue a sales injunction.

We’ll have to wait and see how this unfolds because there might be…more than meets the eye.

i can see why they’d sue haha. come on, they could have used a different name seriously. anyways hope it gets resovled ^_^

I think people could get confused. Hopefully this will all get sorted out and come to a resolution.

lol suing is the new thing i guess…

Well, nowadays especially trademark lawsuits are no surprise. Not sure why ASUS would use “transformer” and “prime” together - looks obvious why Hasbro sued. Hope the issue gets resolved soon though.
