Over the past few years, Samsung has been doing pretty well to make their name synonymous with quality smartphones and racing to be the world’s number one mobile handset manufacturer. Though they aren’t there just yet, there’s still a few more weeks to go in 2011. Though there’s still some good news to be had.

Recently, Samsung has announced that they’ve been able to sell over 300 million handsets for 2011 so far, a number that surpasses last year’s figures by a cool 20 million. It’s also the the most ever in Samsung’s history as a mobile manufacturer, and for a lot of it, they have their Android-powered Galaxy series of devices to thank for it.

Both the Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy S II were definitely hot sellers this year, though the 300 million total also did well to be supplemented by devices like the Galaxy Note and other devices that are in the more budget-minded end of the spectrum of Samsung’s offerings.

With this being how Samsung’s 2011 is ending, 2012 looks mighty bright.
