One of the most annoying things about having gadgets, smartphones, tablets, pretty much any media device (even the one you’re using now) is having to deal with screen glare. No matter what you do, it always seems to make an appearance right when you don’t want it to. But thanks to the Nippon Electric Glass Co Ltd and their glare-free glass, it may soon be a problem that we never have to deal with again.
It’s apparently so good at being glare-free from all angles that it is almost completely invisible to the naked eye. You can see what they mean in the picture down below:
It’s pretty obviously to see that the normal glass is sitting on the left, ugly and spotty with the glare from the lights, while the super-amazing glare-free glass from Nippon Electric Glass seems like it’s not even there on the right.
The technology goes pretty deep to make this possible, with an anti-reflection film covering both sides of this “glass substrate” that lets in 99.5% of light (vs. a normal glass’s 92%) and is able to reflect back 8% to the viewer. Not that vital to know, but it’ll definitely be interesting to see this stuff featured in [hopefully] more than a few future releases.
