It’s taken it a while, but the Android Market has finally hit 500,000 applications published for the month of September via the “mobile app market intelligence firm” Research2Guidance.
As a side statistic, while new apps are being added over 37% of app submissions have also been removed at some point for various reasons.
Comparing it to the popular App Store from Apple, it stands at 600,000 apps strong and has about a 24% removal rate. Not too bad for either one.
Though in terms of developers, Android has Apple ones beat, publishing more than 6 apps to the Android Market since it debuted versus the 4 published apps to the App Store. But of course, numbers don’t mean everything. In the end, I would consider quality over quantity for the selection and choice of apps that are presented for either market/store.
Congratulations nonetheless!
