A few days back, Sony’s S2 got got the A-OK from the Federal Communications Commission. Now, its big brother, the S1 has passed as well. There are four variants of the S1, SGPT111US/S, SGPT112US/S, SGPT111CA/S and SGPT112CA/S. However, they’re not all that original as you might think.

These two tablets are actually deviations from Sony’s very own 9,4-inch S1 tablet. The benefits of the source tablet includes Android 3.x Honeycomb as well as a custom-made “Quick and Smooth” UI. The S2 also has a similarity with the Ericsson F5521gw HSPA+ capable modem, both of which have the some module.

The Sony S1 and S2 are scheduled to hit stores this upcoming fall.
