During the Google I/O conference earlier this month, every attendee walked away with one nice piece of merchandise. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was to everyone that attended the conference - lucky them! Samsung has now stated that the tablet is now only a ‘few days away’ so get ready, soon you can have your very own. Don’t worry about the operating system of the tablet as well, it will come equipped with the latest version of Android Honeycomb.
Honeycomb 3.1 was announced at the conference and the Samsung Galaxy was the tablet used to show off the latest system. Some good news for Motorola Xoom owners was also released. Xoom owners with 3G through Verizon Wireless will be some of the first to get the Honeycomb update.
The tablets official release date is set for June 8th but with Samsungs latest statement, I bet an early release at least by a few days is in the making.
Anyone who hasn’t heard about the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, the device is ultimately just a bit thinner than an iPad 2 at 8.6mm thick and it weighs a measly 1.3lbs. It has a 3megapixel camera with flash which isn’t too bad and a 2megapixel front facing camera for video chats, it would probably work with Skype. Although the tablet is listed as having Android 3.0, an official Samsung tweet confirmed that it will have Android 3.1.
The fact that it is the tablet leading to the official release of Honeycomb 3.1 is a pretty big deal. I bet that alone would bring in a number of customers. I can’t wait to see actual customer reviews of the product. Only a few days left before the release, is anyone going to buy one?
