Barnes & Noble has recently held their press conference to introduce their new NOOK e-reader, the ‘Simple Touch Reader’. After some information was leaked they finally confirmed that it is a ’squat, black, touch-screen e-ink reader’ which will be priced at $139.
As for the specs, the reader will get a 6-inch Pearl E-Ink display as well as the Neonode’s ‘zForce’ infrared touch technology. Furthermore, it will be powered by the Freescale i.MX508 processor and it will have 1 or 2GB of internal memory and an additional microSD expansion slot as well.
Along with the launch of this new NOOK, the prices of the first edition WiFi and 3G+WiFi NOOK e-readers will drop to $119 and $169 respectively.
