Android Market movie rentals are now blocked on rooted devices. A Google support document comes up with “Failed to fetch license for [movie title] (error 49)” when users try to play a movie on a rooted Android device.
Once support reaches all the Android devices, users will have to choose between the superuser privileges and Google’s movie offers. Rooting and jailbreaking hasn’t put a stop to other movie rental services for mobiles, so it’s strange for Google to do so. I guess users will have to choose between the two options or figure out a way to have both.
