Intel cut short its deal with Nokia’s MeeGo and Windows 8 has yet to arrive. So what did Intel do? It has reportedly teamed up with Google to use Android on its tablets that will be released later this year.

Nothing has been officially announced, but the processor manufacturer is probably going to make an announcement of its Intel Android tablets sometime later this year. Android 3.0 is to run on tablets powered by Intel’s processors. With Intel’s first-quarter 2011 financial results looking good, this is hardly news.

Even though Intel’s processors outperform rival’s ARM chips, it still hasn’t been able to make its technology work more efficiently. That could all change with Intel’s new Oak Trail processors.
