A delay for the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play has been confirmed by UK carrier O2 after some bugs were found in the software. They announced the delay after having “found some bugs in the software that, if they’re not fixed, means customers won’t have a great experience.” According to the head of O2’s testing team, Stuart Hibberd, by the time Sony Ericsson has tweaked the firmware, the gaming smartphone will have already missed the previous April 1 launch date.

It was not confirmed whether the same bugs would affect other carriers with the XPERIA Play. Though the issues were not specified, O2 claimed that they were general flaws in the XPERIA Play firmware.
