At the CTIA in Florida, Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and a new Galaxy Tab 10.1 – which are both apparently only just slimmer than the iPad 2.

Following the launch of Apple’s second generation tablet, Samsung were reportedly scared, and vowed to go back to the Galaxy Tablet’s drawing board.

One big change is that the new Tab 10.1 looks a lot more attractive than the previous iteration, looking also like the 8.9 inch tab which was unveiled simultaneously.

At the presentation, neither Tab was working, but both will have dual core 1GHz processors, presumably Tegra 2, and a 3 megapixel camera on the rear with LED flash, along with a 2 megapixel front-facing camera.

SIM card slot, microSD card slots and headphone jacks will we along the sides. WXGA screens of a resolution of 1280 x 800 will be packed in, with the tablets measuring 8.6mm, just a fraction of a millimetre thinner than the iPad 2.
