Android have receive another fired shot from Microsoft, this time aiming at Barnes and Noble and various other companies asscociated in the manufacturing of the Nook Color, like Foxconn and Inventec.

In the lawsuit, it claims that Microsoft owns several patents that are apparently violated within the Android OS and so they want profits off these patents or they’ll be taken to court.

Horcio Gutierrez, Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Intellectual Property and Licensing, said “The Android platform infringes a number of Microsoft’s patents, and companies manufacturing and shipping Android devices must respect our intellectual property rights. To facilitate that we have established an industry-wide patent licensing program for Android device manufacturers”.

He then added “HTC, a market leader in Android smartphones, has taken a license under this program. We have tried for over a year to reach licensing agreements with Barnes & Noble, Foxconn and Inventec. Their refusals to take licenses leave us no choice but to bring legal action to defend our innovations and fulfil our responsibility to our customers, partners, and shareholders to safeguard the billions of dollars we invest each year to bring great software products and services to market”.

Issues that Microsoft has to deal with here are surfing the web quickly and efficiently, and interacting with documents and e-books.

What are you thoughts on Microsoft’s defence of their own possessions?

I guess they just coincidently copied it? I dont think they did anything wrong but well… it is a product made by Microsoft so ofcourse, they will sue it for the right reasons… smile

I think microsoft has the right to sue them…

I think the case might be too far fetched. Thanks for sharing.

I hope this deal gets resolved soon.

since Microsoft worked their butt off to invent these things, I think they should protect their intellectual property rights..

wow i think that a little too much thx for sharing

haha wow. I love these lawsuits coming out from Apple and Microsoft lol. Hope it’s not too big of a problem later. ^^q

Really? Legal action against that? =.=
I really hope it doesn’t become too blown up. I mean, I gues they did use their idea, but the idea wouldn’t be that...I don’t know. I think Microsoft sues weirdly. XD

WHOA! This is crazy....but I guess that Microsoft does have the right to file a law-suit against them because the other companies might have copied their idea.  Hopefully, this problem won’t blow up to a larger scale! Thank you so much for sharing!

whoo...microsoft and Apple...=.= they should have a law-suit filing party aometime...oh wait...mircrosoft is against Apple. never mind then.
in this case though, if barnes & nobles and the others refused to take licenses...microsoft has every right to take legal action against them.
thanks for sharing!

i guess microsoft has the right to go and get what their legal possessions are if barnes & nobles etc are copying thier ideas.
thanks for sharing!
