Best Buy stores are now offering the Motorola Xoom, which will challenge the iPad, for pre-order. The 3G edition of the tablet is available for $799, which will be upgradable up to 4G.
There’s 10.1 inches of display space (with 1,280×800 resolution), a dual-core Nvidia processor and two cameras. 32GB of flash drive and 1GB of system memory are also on board. What’s really exciting is Android 2.3 Honeycomb on the device - now that is something to squeal over!
Available in stores on Thursday, the 3G iPad ($729 for a 32GB model) does not look so great in comparison as it has a simple 1,024×768 display, no cameras, a single-core Apple A4 chip and will not be upgradeable to 4G. The second iPad is probably more competitive with the Xoom however, as it is anticipated to sport, amongst its new specifications, a dual-core processor, improved graphics silicon, and dual cameras.
You can pre-order the Xoom tablet at Best Buy right now, as well as check out accessories such as a Motorola dock, speakers, Xoom case, and a wireless keyboard.
