Japan’s social network, Mixi, has 25 of its 29 billion monthly page views from their cell phones. According to Mixi, it is now the first social network that lets users share information with their friends through NFC technology on Android handsets. Two functions that it’s adding are Mixi Check In (like Facebook Places) and Mixi Check (Like Facebook’s Sharing).
Near Field Communication (NFC) makes it possible to share data in close proximity of another device. Mixi Real Check In lets you check into places by tapping their Android on a NFC tag in a real world location to share it with your friends. GPS isn’t necessary either. Mixi Real Check not only lets you share websites, but any object in the real world that has a NFC tag. This is way too cool!
