From Ziggytek: The word on the street is that Android 2.4 Ice Cream will be released around June/July of 2011. The name fits as the alphabetical names do add up to I: Doughnut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, then Ice Cream. The anonymous source says Android 2.4 will be announced somewhere around Google’s IO conference at the beginning of May 2011. This ends the idea that Honeycomb will be released as 2.4 since it was just announced as 3.0. Where I got this information brings up a good question. Why would they go from 2.3 to 3.0 just to go back to 2.4 unless they don’t plan on advancing past 2.9 with Android for mobile phones? Only time will tell if these rumors come true. More »
