It looks lik the Samsung Galaxy Tab may have some competition on its hands very soon, as HTC are planning to release a trio of tablets: one in March and a couple around June time. HTC Flyer, the first tablet, looks like one to fight with the Galaxy Tab.
Leaked specifications of the Flyer include a 7 inch screen (1024×600 resolution), Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Sense user interface, dual-cameras (5MP rear-facing camera with LED flash, 1.3MP front-facing camera), HSPA+ network support, a HDMI port and DNLA support and a Qualcomm single-core 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. So perhaps the Flyer will not compete with the Motorola Xoom, but who is willing to pay for a $700-800 tablet anyway?
HTC Peter Chou reported, “It’s a new market with many competitors, and we don’t want to rush into it. We hope the product we eventually unveil will be one that meets consumers’ needs.”
The next tablets in line from HTC look to boast 10-inch displays, Android 3.0 and will support LTE networks. Maybe we’ll learn more from the Mobile World Congress where HTC will be having their own press conference.
