VLC Players for Android beta on their way

In early 2011, a VLC Player will be released for Android, so you don’t have to switch between different players when using your favourite file formats. Sounds pretty nifty, don’t you think?

But there’s a catch: one of the minimum requirements is Android 2.3 Gingerbread but many devices are still waiting for a Android 2.2 Froyo update, meaning the VLC Player will take a while before making any real headlines.

Perhaps the developers should have come up with a Android 2.1 Eclair edition?
