In an interview with Forbe’s magazine, Drew Bamford revealed some of the company’s future plans for its multi-platform sense interface, HTC Sense. Bamford envisions Sense both enhancing on-device capabilities, and moving beyond the phone through to the living room.
A digital bookstore will be provided for American handsets which will boast video chat functionality and maybe even DVR capabilities. Once handsets become more integrated with televisions, this feature will begin to make sense. HTC envisions that 4G devices can replace the need for home internet service, with phones acting as the vehicle to distribute content around a house.
There are, according to Bamford, more implementations in which your phone is able to “interpret the thing you would naturally do with it, anticipating what you want to do with it being explicit”. Lowering the ring volume when the handset is picked up is an example of this, and another would be hanging up a call when the handset is placed face-down. This is what Bamford names “natural interaction”.
