Sony Ericsson’s PlayStation Phone may actually be named Xperia Play. It has been rumoured that the device would be Xperia-branded, and now this news makes the rumour look more credible than ever.

There is no real confirmation of the news. However, it is known that Sony Ericsson have applied for European trademarks for “Xperia Play”, “Xperia Duo,” “Xperia Arc” and “Xperia Neo”. A public relations firm for Sony Ericsson have also applied for the domain name of www.xperiaplay.com as well as others.

There is definitely something going on under Sony Ericsson’s sleeves, and we may just be taking up a quick assumption that the PlayStation Phone is going out under the name of Xperia Play. Whilst we’re waiting for confirmation (or not as the case may be), let’s feast our eyes on the device…
