Remember those Sharp Galapagos tablets promised a while ago? Well now we have a release date of December 10 and a price (which is not very pretty at all) at hand.
The “mobile type” device that offers a 5.5-inch LCD screen (1,024 × 600 resolution) will market for ¥39,800 ($474) and the “home type” device with 10.8-inch LCD screen (1,366 × 800 resolution) will market for ¥54,800 ($653)- in Japan only. It has yet to be decided whether or not the devices will travel overseas.
Accompanying the two Android tablets will be the launch of an e-book store from Sharp that will offer 30,000 newspapers, magazines, and books when it becomes available.
