Acer announces two tablets, a smartphone and their own app market

Taiwan-based manufacturer Acer recently held a press event in New York City, revealing two Honeycomb tablets, a huge smartphone and also their own app store.

The two tablets will run Acer UI 4.5 and Android 3 Honeycomb and both will support Flash Player 10.1. The bigger tablet comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen with a 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution and a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 CPU. It also features a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a front-facing camera for video calling. The smaller one has a 7-inch screen with the same resolution and it’s powered by a dual-core 1.2 Ghz Qualcomm CPU.

Furthermore, Acer announces a stylish smartphone, which comes with a curved back and full metal body. It runs Acer’s latest UI and an unknown version of Android and it’s powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU. It has a 4.8-inch screen with 1024 x 480 resolution, along with an unusual 21:9 aspect ratio. It also features a 8-megapixel camera with 720p video capture, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, HDMI, and Bluetooth 3.0.

Apparently there are no names mentioned for these devices yet, but we will surely get further details until they are released, which is expected to be in April 2011. Acer also announces ‘Alive,’ their own app store which will offer games, music, movies, e-books, and applications. They will launch the store next month for Acer’s Windows 7 costumers in the UK, while the Android version will come in Q2 2011.
