Dell have been hitting the headlines for their Dell Streak and the coming successor, but we have not really heard anything particularly special from them yet. They are taking another shot with the XCD28 (below) and the XCD35 (above), but something about the specifications and the external views of the phones tell us that they may not be able to hit the spot…
The XCD35 will run on a 600 MHz Processor and Android 2.1, features a standard 3.5 inch touchscreen with 480×800 pixel resolution, 3 megapixel camera and the usuals of WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, USB, & SatNav. There’s 150 MB of internal memory but users will most likely need to use the up to 32GB microSD card slot available. An FM Radio and MP3 player will be chucked in. The phone can achieve up to 9 days on stand by and 4 hours talk time. Nothing new in terms of specifications there then.
The XCD28 is not much more exciting. Featuring a 2.8 inch touchscreen display, 3.2 megapixel camera with high quality video, 3G connectivity, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, the device will run on Android 2.1 and an ARM11 600Mhz CPU with 512 Flash and 256 Mb RAM. GPRS and EDGE will be available, as well as 200MB internal memory expandable up to 16GB.
Maybe it’s not fair to judge now. We’ll have to see how Dell fares on this one. Would you give these phones a try?
