Sharp Galapagos to introduce 3D glasses-free gaming phone in Japan

What’s this? A 3D glasses-free gaming phone with Android 2.2 (most likely)? This is what I call competition! Sharp are heading to the market with their Galapagos device that will offer games and movies in 3D without the glasses.

With an exciting 3.8″ glasses-free 3D screen, the 512MB internal memory on this phone is slightly disappointing and rather off the mark of what would probably be expected.

Currently, there are 7 games for this phone available: Resident Evil: Degeneration, Mobile Powerful Pro Baseball 3D, Mega-Man, Taiko no Tatsujin, SILPHEED Alternative, Ghost ‘n Goblins: Gold Knights and Reikai Denwa, as well as a couple of movies such as Shrek Forever After and Battle Royale 3D. Expect more movies and games (from the giants such as Capcom) to be out by the release date of the device.

Kotaku’s report is that the phone’s graphics are not as impressive as those of the Nintendo 3DS, but that is no reason not to keep up to date with the reviews of this phone just yet. Unfortunately Japan are the ones with their hands on this one and we have yet to hear whether the US will get a chance with device. Keep alert for more updates.
