Fact: There are now 100,000 apps available on the Android market. How do we know? The Android team’s Twitter account, AndroidDev, confirmed this fact on Monday. With no mess and no fuss, they tweeted, “One hundred thousand apps in Android Market.”

However, Android still has a while before they’ll be able to catch up with Apple’s range of over 250,000 (some estimate that this figure may even be 280,000) apps. BlackBerry App World offers 10,000 apps and RIM say that the reason for this number is because they prioritize quality over quantity. Considering some of the more odd Apple apps available, I can see why that statement can be considered fair…

Android are just celebrating success after success. In August, Gartner published findings that Android is currently the third most popular operating system in the world, falling behind Symbian who are on top and BlackBerry, who are only 1% ahead.
