The Skype app has been officially released for Android users. However, you’ll only be able to make free internet calls to other Skype users over Wi-Fi, 3G, EDGE and GPRS. But that’s not so bad since you aren’t getting charged as you would for a real ‘phone call’.

Android users will have to make sure that their phone is running Android 2.1 or higher to be able to install it via the Android Marketplace or by visiting Skype Mobile through your phone. Note: It is currently not available in China or Japan’s Android Marketplace.

Another little obstacle for non-US Android users: currently, it only works over/on US Wi-Fi, although I’m sure they are fixing it to make it more available for everyone around the world. But, still pretty cool that it’s finally here.

Any Android users going to check it out?
