T-Mobile has released an official statement concerning the option of tethering with one of their latest phones, the G2. Sadly, you will not be able to tether with it.

Their exact words were,

“T-Mobile does not currently support handset tethering or offer a tethering rate plan. Though tethering and Wi-Fi sharing will not be initially supported on the T-Mobile G2, we know that consumers are interested in these features and we are working to develop a solution to support them in the future.”

If you aren’t familiar with what tethering is, it’s the ability to use your phone as an internet connection for other devices, such as your laptop. Apparently a problem for some (mostly companies) since it allows people to go online without paying for a full ISP (Internet Service Provider).

That isn’t to say that someone can’t hack the tethering block on the G2, but legally - you are not allowed to tether with it.

Any thoughts?
