From American technology store Best Buy’s September buyer’s guide, we can confirm that the Samsung Gem handset will be released on Verizon. Compared to other Android phones such as the Samsung Fascinate, this phone seems to be hitting the lower end of the market and will only be running on Android 2.1 with TouchWiz 3.0.
You can expect Swype, a 3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS and a 16GB SD card slot (whether or not the card is included for you is not yet known).
Keep your ears open for a release date (there probably isn’t long to wait) and price (being a lower-end phone, the price will most probably be more affordable). Will the Samsung Gem live up to its name?
