Business software company Oracle has chosen to file a lawsuit against Google for infringing on seven patents and additional copyrights related to Java, which Oracle had acquired earlier this year. The issue revolves around Google’s usage of said open-source community in their Android smartphones.
In turn, Google has retaliated with an official statement defending open-source standards and denounced the lawsuit as “baseless.” What’s more, Google believes that the “open-source Java community goes beyond any one corporation and works every day to make the web a better place.”
Well, since we probably won’t see either company backing down anytime soon, why not pull out the popcorn and see how it works out?
