We are no strangers to inexpensive tablets from the Far East, but US retailer Kmart is among the first to introduce consumers to an affordable iPad alternative. For $149.99 (though not yet in stock), the GENTOUCH tablet looks pretty spicy.
Augen’s GENTOUCH has solid hardware numbers for a $150 machine. Likely resistive touch, the LCD is 800×480, which is the same resolution as most high-end Android smartphones, and Eclair is still a fast OS. The CPU make is not detailed, but I assume that it is not an ARM Cortex-A8, yet for its price, the GENTOUCH has no equal in the States.
