Motorola Devour Gets Rooted

Motorola’s Devour, the silvery brick…I mean, Android smartphone that is a cheaper (but arguably better looking) Droid has finally been rooted. Using Birdman’s recent Droid X exploit, user “bitswitch” at Android Central has gained access to the root directory.

The procedure is practically a copy of the Droid X Birdman hack. Perhaps once the bootloader is cracked, ROMs for the Devour will begin to crop up. With the Devour at the end of its very short life, Motorola is certainly not going to support the phone with Android updates, so the unlucky few who have the device will be praying for Eclair and FroYo ROMs from the community.
